roommate non-payment of his share of rent

My Partner and I had rented a duplex and aggreed to allow a ''friend'' share it with us for 1/2 the Rent and Utilities

the Friend had the landlord put his Name on the Lease which he had ONLY Put the Friends name and Mine on the Lease anyway The friend was supposed to be filing for some kind of rental Assistance for his share of rent Which NEVER HAPPENED every time I ask about it he says he is Waiting for the Landlord to fax certain papers to his Caseworker My Landlord is A Nice guy and Has not PUSHED us to pay ALL the Rent yet BUT My Partner and I are Afraid that We will have to Pay the Other half of the Rent on the 20 when My Partner gets paid again How can We EVICT the friend if his and My name are the Only ones on the Lease ?
