Buying from over-seas companies and selling in the US

I am looking to start a small business buying and importing goods from places such as China and Paris. I am going to sell these products online, based in the US. What are the legalities of such an operation?

Your question is very open ended. There are many different legal issues that you would encounter in your situation including entity (e.g., corporation, sole proprietorship, LLC, etc), federal and state importing regulations (type of goods, labeling, packaging, etc), state sales tax issues, and so much more.
