Legal Question in Juvenile Dependency in Florida
Can I claim my children on my tax return if a relative (aunt) has temporary custody (6months) and I pay child support as well. I wanted to know before I claim my children on my taxes. I don't think she should be allowed to claim them on hers , but I wanted to know where I stand with that. Or is ther something I can do legally to prevent her from claiming my children on her taxes

It depends on who is supporting them. If you both claim them it will raise a red flag with the IRS and there will be an audit. Talk with her and decide who gets to claim the dependancy.
