Legal Question in Juvenile Dependency in Florida
Emancipation
MY name is Ali, and I am 16 years old. My parents are in the process of finalyzing their divorce. I recently moved in with my dad. The court is requiring me to still visit my mom. I do not want to. We just don't get along to say the least. She is an alchoholic, a drugee, a liar, she decieves everyone, and sleeps with like every guy she meets. She always takes everything out on me. I am always the one in the end to clean up her mess and take care of my brother(he is 10). I just can't take any of her crap anymore. I was curious about emancipation....but wondering if it is possible to just emancipate my self just from my mother but not from my father. I would still be linving with y father untl i turn 17 and go to college.

Re: Emancipation
As far as I can see, you have already emancipated yourself physically, emotionally and mentally from your mother. You could go to Court the next time the dependency case comes up and voice your feelings to the judge (in private or public). Maybe your visits could be re-structured. Remember you will only ever have one mother,
