Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida
Age discrimination
I had a contract assignment via a contract company and I was placed to work for a big company.
The contract was for 3 months, open ended or possibly a renewal, but I am not positive about it.
Then, suddently they terminated the contract after a month and a 2 weeks in the work place of this big company. I was the older worker of the whole group (with the exception of some managers), and the older worker of the group where I was working (one out of 5, and there were 2 contractors there).
I was a contractor of a group of contractors (possibly seven or eight), but I was the older one.
They have the right to terminate the contract, but the question is do they have the right of terminating me withouth giving me the opportunity to move to other vacancies as a contractor? The week prior to my termination another contractor (much younger of course) was hired for another position.
I wonder if I have a strong case. I know it was discrimination, but how can I prove it ? Can I prove it?
Thanks

Re: Age discrimination
First, you need to read to the contract itself to determine what rights you have under the contract. Second, depending on your age (must be 40 or older) and depending on whether you were in fact an employee--versus an independent contractor--one would have to determine if the age discrimination laws would even apply.
