is this allowed
i work for a resturant and the other day they called me in for a meeting and told me they are cutting my pay from $10 an hour to 6.50 to do the same exact job because their losing money . i wasnt demoted i was not having a lack of performance. i was told this was illegal and wish to find out more about it.

An employer can cut an employees pay without demoting them. This cannot, however, be done retroactively for work already performed. So, they can't just pay you less this week for work you performed last week, as you agreed you would be paid $10 an hour for that work and you already performed your end of the deal.
