What is an employers liabilty when subsiding health insurance costs?

If an employer has a policy of a 90 days wait period for medical benefits, can the employer wave this waiting period to 30 days for one employee?

Many companies have a 90 day waiting period for health insurance so that they know someone will get through "probation" before the company goes through the trouble and expense of signing them up for the policy. I know of no law that would not allow a company to make an exception and give someone insurance coverage sooner. This is sometimes done regularly for managment hires and as long as it is not discriminatory there should be no problem.
