Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

breach of contract

Five years ago I signed a contract to become sports director at a Floirda TV station. Having worked for the same company in NC I took much of what they said at their word.

I was promised my own staff, which was to consist of a reporter, producer and photographer. In addition I was told a half hour show they were doing on saturday would be dropped in favor of other sports specials.

Once I arrived not only did they refuse to give my the staff as promised, instead of dropping the saturday show they added 15 minutes to it. soon the rest of the sports department quit, and the woman in charge waited almost a year to fill the vacanies and never consulted my about who she was bringing in.

On three occasions a presented here with letters documenting my displeasure... Twice the response was f-u i am in charge here.

In the meantime I continued to suffer through this doing a show that is not done by any other station in the country. I estimate that in the two years it brought in close to $1million to the station.

My contract is now up and i am getting out of here.

do i have any chance to get compansation for the additional show they made me do, or for the harrassment I received on a number of occasions from my superior.

Re: breach of contract

I don't believe so, but it depends on what the language in your contract provides. If you'd like me to review your contract, please contact me at (305) 810-2887.
