Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

I was called in at work at 4:30 in the afternoon and was told I was being let go due to they could not afford to pay me any longer. They had typed up a resignation letter and wanted me to sign it. I took the letter with me and did not sign, they threatened my insurance license if I did not sign and told me they would not pay unemployment. I feel I have been threatened and harassed. I have the letter and didnot sign. Is this legal?

If you were fired do not sign an agreement saying you quit since it can disqualify you from getting unemployment. Apply for unemployment and if they dispute it or give you a hard time, speak to a lawyer about it. If you were fired, do not sign the resignation letter -- that will screw up your unemployment rights.
