Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

change of employer

i work as a travel nurse here in california.the agency that is my employer is based in florida.

this agency and the hospital that i'm assigned currently both belonged to Hospital Corporation of America.

my assignment will end in 2 weeks. the hospital and the agency are both willing to re-sign me up for another 13 weeks assignment.i want to continue working in the hospital but i would like to sign up with a different agency that is also serving the hospital but pays more and gives more benifits than my current agency.

the problem is i couldn't change agency and continue in this hospital because i was told that my agency and the other agency have an agreement that the other agency cannot sign up nurses that are hired by my agency.

is this legal?

Re: change of employer

There could be a restrictive covenant or non-compete provision, and depending on the circumstances, it may be enforceable and thus be a prohibition on you moving as you would like to do. Please review what the contract you actually signed provides and consult with an attorney.
