Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

I am a commercial fishermen and clammer who has been put out of business. I want to file a law suit against BP for a settlement do to the oil spill that occured. I believe they should be held responsable and should have to pay out a settlement. I am unable to provide for my family. They have no system in place in case of an oil spill to stop it and they have ruined my livelyhood which provided income for my family. Am i able to file suit against BP???????
