Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

To whom it may concern. I have just been notified that our office is being closed and all employees "terminated" as of January 29th, 2010. My question is this. I was not offered a severance package as some of the other employees, however I was offered a job, which in no way is comparable to my skills and expertise. I am told that if I do not accept the job, I am not entitled to any severance package. I am in a no win situation and do not feel that I am being treated fairly like the other employees, I also have a couple of co-workers in the same situation. Do I have any rights to pursue that I receive a severance package in lieu of this insufficient job offer.

You do not have rights to a severance package UNLESS you have an employment contract which specifies that right.
