Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Consecutive Employment Hours

Is there a law prohibiting closing at a retail store and then opening

the next morning? (Less than 12hours pass between shifts)

(ie. employee works from 2pm-10.30pm & opens the following day

at 9.15am-2pm) Also considering that on occasion the employee is

forced to remain 30min. - 1hr. afterwards for ''clean-up''.

Is there a specified time in between shifts that the employee is

allowed as rest?

Re: Consecutive Employment Hours

There is no law prohibiting the situation you describe. Nor is there any required break period (except in limited circumstances - minors and certain public employees). Note that you should be paid for the "clean up" time.

Good luck.
