Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida
New Contract
If a company is closed for a holiday and all salaried employees are paid for this holiday, should a hourly employee be paid as well? I will be changing form salary to hourly for more flexible hours and had 4 vacation days remaining as per my previoius contract am I still entitled to those? When negotiating my new contract should I know anything?

Re: New Contract
There is no Florida or federal law on "vacation" pay or "holiday" pay, so if you in fact have a valid employment agreement, the terms of that agreement would be controlling.
The law does regulate differences between salaried and hourly employees with respect to overtime, but even many salaried employees are still entitled to overtime compensation depending on the job duties one performs.
