Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

discrimination for medical issues

I've recently had part of my small intestines and colon removed due to Crohn's disease. I was just released from the doctor to return to work and my boss wants to take away my hours and demote me. Can he do this?

It likely depends on your boss's intention. You may have a claim under the Americans with Disabilities Acts and possibly even the Family and Medical Leave Act.

Feel free to email me at [email protected] to discuss this further.

You very well may have a claim under the ADA or the Florida Civil Rights Act. Depends upon the number of employees at your employers office. You probably want to put a complaint in writing to either your supervisor or your hr rep. Feel free to call or e-mail me if you have further questions.
