Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Dockin of pay

I work in a hotel in FL and recently had a guest check out after only a few minutes. The guest complained about several issues and even blamed me for not staying. The owner of the property has stated he will take the lost revenue out of my paycheck. Can he do this legally and what can I do about it?

He probably cannot do this. However, if you have an employment agreement, the ability to do so may be part of that agreement.

The employer is likely subject to the federal Fair Labor Standards Ace or the Florida wage and hour laws that pertain to minimum wage and overtime. If you have any questions about those laws, or I can be of some assistance to you, please feel free to contact me at your convenience.
