earned time

is it lawful to have your employer apply your vacation hours or any time accumilated to time you have to take off without your permission?

It really depends on the specific facts of your situation. For example, if you are taking off under the Family and Medical Leave Act, it is permissible for the employer to require you to use any existing vacation time you have as part of your FMLA time off. Florida does not have a State law that requires employers to provicde "vacation" or "accummulated" time, so unless there is some form of discrimination based upon a protected characteristic involved, there is no likely no law implicated. You should, hower, consult with an attorney to discuss the specifics of your situation to determine what rights, if any, you may have.
