I was told that since I could not see out of one eye I couln not get the job.

If the job for which you applied requires perfect or near perfect eyesight - that would be a bona fide occupational qualification (bfoq) and it would not be illegal to deny you employment. However, it there is no bfoq it may be illegal. To investigate further you can check the National Employment Lawyers website (www.nela.org), contact the EEOC office in your area (check your phone book) or check your local yellow pages for an employment discrimination attorney.
