Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

I am currently employed under the table with a car photography company. We drive the cars to a specific location on the dealership lot and photograph them. This company is employed via contract labor to the dealerships. I never signed a 1099 or any documentation regarding my employment or any agreements. I got into an accident on a car lot and my employer does not have liability insurance coverage. In this situation, am I still protected by the law?
