Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Employee Contracts

I had to sign an employee contract to not work in the same industry for two years after I terminate employment and I make only $40k per year. The language of the contract is the following: ''The company will sustain great damage if, during the term of this Agreement, and for a period of two (2) years immediately following its termination for any reason whatsoever, the employee should, for himself, directly or indirectly, or on the behalf of any other person, persons, entity, company, partnership, or corporation, call upon the trade, customers, or clientele of the company for the purposes of soliciting or selling private homeowner and resort and hotel housekeeping and domestic services in the state of Florida or in every othe areas serviced by the Company'' My question, is this contract binding and can I work in the same type of business as long as the clients pursued are not current clients of my employer?

Re: Employee Contracts

Yes, it is binding. Looks like you are OK if you stay away from the company's "trade, customers or clientele." Not sure what they mean by "trade."
