Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Employee Dress Code

First of all, I am fully aware of the fact that my employer has the right to implement a dress code. My problem is, there is no dress code in writing and our employee manual simply states ''dress proffessional or we will send you home.'' My question is, is my manager aloud to tell one girl she can wear a type of clothing, and tell another she cannot? Is she aloud to just randomnly say she doesn't like the way something looks? Is one girl aloud to wear her hair up, but another has to wear it down? I just do not understand my rights, I feel it is not right to be sent home without pay based on my managers opinion and NOT a written dress code.

Re: Employee Dress Code

You live in an "at will" state that favors employers. You have very very limited rights in these circumstances and very few ways to enforce them. Try going over the immediate supervisors head for guidance.
