Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

My employeer (due to the economy) reduced my hours down to 36 hours, and i still work 40 hours every week, since Novemeber of 2009. My employeer signs my timesheet every week and it says 36 hours. I work for free for 4 hours a week, is this against the law?? What actions can i take???

Yes if you are working hours that you are not getting paid for it is against the law. Are those hours by any chance for lunch? You could complain to Human Resources, or the Department of Labor. You could also go to an attorney and possibly bring suit against your employer. However, even though legally they can't retaliate against you for complaining about illegal actions, they might terminate you anyway and come up with a reason for it. Let me know if you have further questions.
