Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida
My employer and I got into an argument where he called me a fucking dickhead, a huge fucking penis. He told me to go home and then said why don't you go back to Detroit and open your own fucking restaurant. I left under the assumption I was fired. Those were parting words. I was a cook at the restaurant. I texted the sous chef (directly under the chef who verbally assaulted me) the next day asking if I was fired. There was no response. I didn't show up the following day and nobody called to ask where I was. Is that sufficient to assume I was fired? I have an appeal phone conference with Florida unemployment mediators on Thursday. What can I do or say. My initial claim was denied.

Sounds like you were fired. Just tell the judge what happened.
