Can an employer demand that you acquire childcare services and work an undetermined amount of time while making veiled threats regarding your position if you are unable to obtain childcare?

In the state of Florida an employee, barring an employment agreement stating otherwise, can be fired for any nondiscriminatory reason. Therefore, if you are unable to work due to an inability to find child care you may be terminated. Regarding the "undetermined amount of time", I recommend that you keep track of all time worked so that you are compensated for your efforts.
