Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida
My employer typically pays weekly for the pay period ending the prior week. For the last several months the company has been having financial troubles and have been paying 1-3 days late. Now the paychecks have stopped completely and upon questioning they say they will have paychecks once they get another deal or a check arrives (this check has been 'coming' for 4 weeks now). Especially in this economic downturn, employment options are low, however, I can not work upon the contingency of their next clients check.
What are my options? Can I quit and collect unemployment, if so, how long of non-payment would be acceptable to quit? I am already looking for another job, but options are limited right now.

You can quit. You can sue. My guess is that a month of no pay is a constructive discharge that would qualify you for unemployment.
