After being laid off because of economic slowdown, I found my former employer looking for someone with my very qualifications for full time.My question is this why would you get rid of me and hire someone for the job I could do?

They employer may just not like you or your attitude or that you come in late every now and then or perhaps don't appear to be working hard or that you don't get along with people. It can be any number of reasons. The new person may be cheaper . . . .
