Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida
Employment
I was recently terminated from my job for allowing customers and employees to use more than one coupon on their purchases. I was the only on terminated even though other manager's allowed the same thing. I was never taught that it was wrong and it was done at previous stores I worked at. They are considering it fraud? How can I clear my name and what can they tell other employers about this situation.

Re: Employment
In the private sector there is not a lot you can do to "clear your name." For peace of mind, you can apply for unemployment compensation benefits and receive them if you have not engaged in misconduct. The employer may try to deny the benefits based upon the claim that you engaged in misconduct and then you would have a hearing with an appeals referee to show that there was no clear policy and that it was not fraud.
On another note, if you are being treated differently for an illegal reason then you may have a claim for discrimination. The company may not have been on notice that others were committing the same violation and hence took action only because they learned of this conduct in your case.
