Employment status

Can an employer change an employees status as a waged employee to an independent contractor? I was making minimum wage and they changed me to independent contractor and paid me $3/day. Is that legal?

That type of change--without your actual duties and work circumstances being significantly modified--is likely something that is convenient for the employer but may violate the law. You should consult directly with an attorney to determine if the specific facts of your situation warrant you taking action at this time.
