Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Equal pay for Equal work

Is it correct that there is up to a $6000 window in salary difference allowable under the Equal Pay for Equal Work Law? After bringing up pay descrepancies ranging from $5000-$6000 a year of several other male employees performing the same job as myself, with less time at the job and equal or less qualifications, I was advised by my employer that the law allows for such ''minor differences'' due to market changes. (1 employee was hired 6 months after myself and the other 14 months)

I am unaware what legal basis your employer would base this statement on, so you may have a potential claim depending on the exact circumstances. Please feel free to contact me for further assistance at (305) 810-2887.
