Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida
If I felt harrased and unsafe around an employee who has been verbally abusive to myself and others in the past and asked my employer to please help resolve this matter. This person is allowed to do whatever they want without any reprecussions. He is an IT person and is not a manager in any form. I felt that if my emplyer was not going to do anything about it then I would have no choice but to resign. My employer took that as my formal resignation and accepted. I expressed that I do not put in my formal resignation. Can he accept a resignation without one formally being put in by letter? Affter accepting my resignation (that I didnt put in) he asked if he could pay me to work as an independent contractor. I am not sure when I stand legally on this matter.

There is nothing in the law which states that an employee's resignation must be formal or in writing.
