Fired but not told about it

Iwas working at a business for about 3 weeks and then told that I was layed off for lack of sales, the next day one of the managers hired a girl to work there. Then a week or so later he was fired because of sexual harassment. I talked to the other manager after that and they said I was never layed off and that I was fired. He said that he could hire me back though and then after that he said it would violate the companys policy if he did.
