Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Firing vs. offer to stay on the job

Two and a half weeks ago, without warning, my employers fired me from an hourly position which I had held for over 4 months. Was told I performed the job well, was an asset to the company, but the wife did not like working with me so I was being fired. During the course of the conversation, the firing was rescinded if I could modulate my interaction with the wife and was willing to go to part-time hours. After 24 hours consideration, I stated I would try that. (On a side note they fired someone last week, after 3 weeks, with whom the wife had a problem). Now, after trying this, I find myself extremely uncomfortable with the owners (the wife & husband) and want to negate my decision to try and work things out. Do I now have to quit?...or should I just tell them it is not working out and they need to let me go.

Re: Firing vs. offer to stay on the job

The only legal significance is that if you quit, you legally would not be entitled to collect unemployment. As such, I would state that you need full time work under your previous conditions. Let them fire you if they see fit but dont ask for it!
