Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

What is the Fl ''right to fire'' law?

I was recently in an auto accident and my orthopedic doctor gave me a work release for several days as he wanted me to stay off my feet and allow my back to heal some from the trauma of a rear end collision. I have damage in my L2 thru L5 Discs.

My employer has said that if I don't come in he will have to replace me...and that Florida is a right to fire state.??? Can he fire me for not coming in when I have been given instructions from my doctor?

Yes, unless your injury was while you were on the job. If you are unable to work, he can let you go as long as that is not prohibited by your employment contract.
