Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

harrassment by spouse of fellow employee

i have lived in this community for 4 1/2 years. last year i was hired to monitor the pool. this year i was offered a full time paying position. ever since i was hired a fellow employees wife has falsely accused me of sexual disrimination, and many other things. i took my bosses advice and have been ignoring the constant harrassment from this person. i am now recieving phone calls from this person at 7:30 am sunday mornings, threatening me,cussing me,etc. i am a happily married woman,40 years old and have an excellent reputation in this community. i have been subjected to a private conference with my boss concerning sexual harrasement, even though he told me he didnt believe it but by law he had to give it to me. this woman is not only trying to ruin my reputation she is trying to destroy my job and is also personally harrassing me at home. i have kids that are being subjected to this also. i would appreciate any advice that you could give me. thank you

Re: harrassment by spouse of fellow employee

Perhaps you need to put all the facts, and incidents of this situation in writing; Speak to an attorney about these allegations, as well as potential criminal restraint/action. Since your reputation may be in jeopardy, you could possibly confront the co-employee, with your boss present to advise per your written memorandum/statement. If the co-employee is actually behind this, instigating or encouraging the calls from the spouse, perhaps it is YOU who has the "hostile" work environment, rather than the other way around. Perhaps your boss should be putting the co-employee on notice as well. You should talk to an Employment lawyer about this situation, and also consider possible defamation cause of action.

You could call the police and report the person as harassing you and you want this stopped. You could get a restraining order as well. As for the harassment allegations, I agree you should aviod the person as much as possible. The person obviously has something in mind against you.

Good luck.
