Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Harrassment @ work?

I feel as I am being harrassed at work. I work for a Homeowner's association and one of the maintenance workers has become upset at me for unknown reasons. He's gone around talking about me with some other Board members who do not like me because my mother is on the Board. He has even taken my personal papers out of the office which he has no right to do. He has not been reprimanded and now he is telling people that I have been fired. I feel like they are plotting against me which is causing me a lot of stress. I am a single mom who goes to school. The thought of losing my job is not allowing me to sleep well and my blood pressure is out of control. I have voiced my concerns via e-mail but he has dodged out of these meetings. What can I do?

Re: Harrassment @ work?

You can and should put a complaint in writing to your employer BUT it doesn't sound as if the conduct of this employee is illegal - - its just impolite and unprofessional, which is very different from being illegal. Nonetheless, to the extent this person could arguably be engaging in defamatory conduct, put a complaint in writing ASAP . . .
