Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida
Hello,
Three months ago I was hired as a temporary employee. There were others that were hired as temporary employees as well. At first everything was fine and I was promised a permanent position after 90 days. I asked my supervisor if overtime was available and I was told not for temporary employees. Soon I noticed that some people on my team including temporary employees were working overtime. After 90 days on the job I inquired with my supervisor about being hired permanently and was told my daily production did not meet the required amount. This was the first time I had been told of any daily quota. I mentioned this and the fact that others were working overtime and it had increased their production. The supervisor informed me that none of that mattered and I would be evaluated in another 30 days. I spoke to a manager regarding my situation. The manager stated they would speak to the supervisor about the overtime and the quota. 2 days later I was released from the assignment and now I'm unemployed. Please advise on what could be done at this time. Thank you.

Here is the classic answer- "it depends."
If you feel that they treated you differently due to your membership within a protected class then you may have a valid claim. If not, then there is likely nothing that can be done. Reach out to a lawyer and discuss the situation in a bit more depth.
