Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida
Honoring Employment Contract
I went to an automotive tech. school.I was told that I would be guarenteed job placement. Upon graduating I continued a specialized study program through the school.Thereafter I received a job offer through the technical school's reps.. The contract was offered to me by a large established import company.I signed up on understanding that I would receive ''Full Time employment'' specified in the contract. Now I receive 20 - 35 hours per week and only get paid for those hours. When business is slow I take home half the money that was budgeted for. As a result in order to survive (rent, bills etc. and student loans) I was forced to use credit cards. The cost of the specialized program is $8500 which the dealer I work for paid to the technical school, which binds me to a 2 year contract that I signed. I contacted the school with my problem and received no help. I contacted the company human resources but they say that they can't do anything about it. They say that I can resign if I want, but that adds to my financial burden in that I have to pay back for the specialized training.school and reps. from the dealer claim that there is no mention of ''full time employment'' on the contract. My copy of the contract proves otherwise.Help!

Re: Honoring Employment Contract
you may have a claim for breach of contract and may be able to negotiate a termination and settlement agreement if you want to be free of the contract.
