Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida
Hostile Work Environment
Community managers of 55+ MHP. Were required to purchase home in park for continued employment. Owner now wants to transfer managers to another park after threats by a resident. Sales dept.in park now states home is not worth what we paid 9/6/02 although written appraisal shows 4k over purchase price. Purchase in new park would also be required for employment although industry standard shows housing is normally provided as part of the compensation package. Relieved of duty on 12/10 remaines on full payroll to this date. Owner has required us to list and sell our current home through the in-house sales dept. at a loss to enable the transfer. We no longer have funds to purchase or pay moving expenses.

Re: Hostile Work Environment
None of the conduct you've described is violative of any law. As a result, the information you've provided would only be illegal if you have a written employment contract for a specific term of employment that prohibited this conduct. Additionally, there could be a common law claim for fraud or some other deceptive practice if there are enough facts to support it.
