iIf I have a lover who works for the same deparmtnet as myself

Today a new GO (general order) was issued by the Fire Chief and it had to do with fraternization and inapporpriate behavior. The Chief now requires that if we are romantically involved with another employee within the fire dept. in a platonic relationship lasting more than 7 days we are to inform him of such for the purpose of whether or not a conflict of interest applies. Is this a legal request?
