Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida
Inventory problem
Last fall, the company, of whom I was recently laid off, asked me to close down our regional warehouse and storefront and fufill my sales managerial responsbilities from my house. (No contracts were signed over this matter between myself or the company and I am not even sure if they had state or county licenses, nor the proper insurance.) Almost all of the products and supplies at the warehouse were shipped to the national facility except for some products and supplies that I was instructed to store at my home residence. I ran the business out of my home for until being terminated on Jan. 30th. The company recently sent me a list of inventory to send back to the national office, but most of the items had already been sent back prior to my termination. The amount of the inventory discrepancy is about $1,000.00. Can they take legal action against me for product I already returned to them?

Re: Inventory problem
It is unlikely that they would pursue such an action but, technically speaking, if you had their property in your possession, they could sue you for "conversion" and/or other claims.
