Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

job application question

if during the process of filling out a job application you come accross a question that asks ''Have you ever filed a workmans comp claim?'' (and you have) must you answer honestly knowing pretty much full well the only reason they asked that question is so they can deny your application if you say''yes''. In my case I said ''No'' because A) I feel its none of there damn business and B) I was told speciffically by a workers comp lawyer that they have no right to that information. I only bring this up because I was just fired for answering ''No'' to that particular question on my application 2 weeks ago. I have been doing an exellent job, showing up on time, never missing any days and was given no other reason for my dismissal. Do I have any legal recourse that will carry any weight or am I just wasting my time and energy seeking justice in this matter. Your respomse would be most appreciated.

P.S Im not sure if this falls under the catagory of labor/employment law or workers comp law (please excuse my ignorance)

Re: job application question

By answering No when you knew the answer was yes, you proved yourself to be a liar and someone that they could not or did not wish to trust. Whether someone filed a work comp claim is easily knowable and they checked. If you thought the answer was none of their business, you could have put that on the application, but that probably would have raised a question. Next time, answer honestly.
