Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Changes to job title unknown to employee

We recently went through yet another 'restructuring'. The new org chat came out and my job title had changed from what I was hired as. All of my peers have the correct title. I am the only one in my department with this title and it doesn't appear on HR's job matrix. However, it is listed in Peoplesoft and no one seems to want to change it. I was hire as an IT Business Analyst and now am an Assoc Telecom Analyst. I cannot find my offer letter which stated my position as Business analyst. My boss (recently laid off) verified I was hired as a Business Analyst. Any ideas on what I can do?

Legally, there is nothing you can do. Practically, what is the worry that your title has changed anyway?

Assuming your duties are the same, then the difficulty you are having is with solely a change in title. Legally, you have to "right" to a certain title. In the corporate world, titles change, amend, and get deleted all the time.

My advise would be to speak with those that are in charge, seek why there is a change in your title and express your concerns with relation to your hiring. But then again, maybe it is best to not say anything since the company has gone through a restructure.

Good luck.
