Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

I was laid off on Aug 29 of 2008 after nearly 14 years of sevice. I received no severance pay and no compensation for the required "extra effort" (additional hours) that I worked for theose 8 months. As of Jan 2009 the company is now giving severance pay to in the form of 1 weeks pay for every year served over 5 years. Do I have any legal recourse?

You may have a claim for unpaid overtime or minimum wage violations, depending on a variety of factors. There are a lot of exceptions and exemptions to the laws, so you should discuss your case with an employment attorney to see if you qualify.
