Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida
I was layed off with no severence pay after 8 years of service with the excuse that my position would be eliminated and since have been replaced . Can I Sue for wrongful dismissal. Also, I worked for this employer under salary and hourly at some point but never was pais overtime. I was forced the option to take my overworked hours as comp time. Not at time and a half. Hour for Hour. I agreed at the time to keep my job because I was not aware that it was illegal.

The first question is whether you were fired and replaced due to some discriminatory reason
Such as based upon you age, sex, gender race etc. If not you probably have no legal claim. You probably want to speak with an employment lawyer about this issue and the overtime issue.
