Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida
Is this legal?
My Daughter worked for the county government. She was terminated because she left early without reporting to the manager. She had told the lady who was in the office she was sick and had to leave. He was not there. (She had sick time on the books) She took the calls when others reported out. They then showed her her time sheet and said she had falsified it. Her written time had been crossed out and changed!
She told her employer of my upcoming surgery, when it was time for her to leave that day, he said if she left she would be fired.
This all started when she saw the manager slap another employee on the behind. When confronted by him she told him yes, she had seen it.
I got her an air cleaner for her desk which was in a corner. He would not allow her to have it but others had radio's etc. It is a sick building.
The incidents are numerous. There was an investigation, and the county attorney's decision was not in her favor.
Since going to this job, she has had to go on blood pressure med. and fast heart rate med. Some of the other employees have encouraged her to report this manager but if they tell all.. they will be fired too.
Does she have to accept this decision?

Re: Is this legal?
You have described a number of "problems," most of which are not illegal. However, as it relates to the medical leave issue, I would need more information to assist you. Ultimately, though, it does not sound as if the employer did anything illegal--even though these actions may have not been fair.
