Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida
Is it legal to deny a pay increase if an employer increases job responsibilities of entire teams, (the increase require a weeks training) and these responsibilities are equal to another team that makes thousands more than the team being trained. Once trained, the teams being trained will be doing the exact same work as the team that makes thousands more and have the same credentials. The only reason they were doing the work prior was because they started before stricter regs were put into place for another aspect that they can no longer do. Essentially they are having one job responsibility taken away but still receive the high pay while the other teams are having their job responsibilities increase by 8 or more.
Please advise, there are many of use concerned but since we work in a scary economic climate we are scared to say to much. We want equal pay and wonder, legal what rights we have from a federal stand point as we have teams in several states across the US.

Unless you have an employment contract which states to the contrary, the employer can alter job responsibilities and pay rate at any time. Unless the employer's reason for the difference in pay rates is due to a discriminatory reason (age, gender, race, etc.), the employer can pay different employees less for the same (or more) work. I cannot speak for the rights/responsibilities of the employer in other states.
