Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida
I was a manager of a retail store, my company just gave me the option to either take a demotion to asst. manager or leave the company, because 'my performance as store manager has been below company standards' this was the first I had heard of this. Yes, sales are down, but they are down all over. Can they legally do this?

They can probably take these actions and you would be forced to take the position unless you want to lose your job. However, if you can point to some alternative reason why they may be demoting you, perhaps you complained about illegal activities or there was some kind of discrimination, then maybe they are prohibited from taking the action they want to take. Feel free to consult with an employment lawyer.
