Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

minimum hours

My work shift starts at 8:30 a.m. as a service plumber. On the day in question, my employer confirmed a normal 8 hour work day. My employer erroneously decided to send me home after one and a half hours. Isn't my employer reguired to pay me at least four hours? Thank you for your time.

Re: minimum hours

I assume you are not a member of a union, that no union agreement covers you, and that you have no written employee/employer agreement covering this issue. If you are an hourly employee your employer can pay you only for hours worked, I know of no "4 hour minimum" rule. If you are on salary (X dollars per week) and exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act, then your employer must pay you for a full day of work, for every day you work any amount of time, even if you worked only an hour and a half on a given day.
