Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Negative Referrals

I believe I am getting negative referrals from one or more past employers. I noticed attitudes changed from my supervisor and manager shortly after I started working at my current job. I am seeking a higher paying position, but notice I never get called for interviews. How can I stop previous employers from giving negative references if, in fact, they are doing so? Do I need to take legal action?

Re: Negative Referrals

You may to have someone call your former employer to confirm what type of reference you are getting. Be aware that it is not illegal for a former employer to be truthfull in giving a reference. You should take or threaten to take legal action only if you have a real cause of action and that would probably be when your former employer is giving out false information about you.
