Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Is my non-compete valid?

When I was hired by my employer 4yrs ago, I signed an employee agreement which contains a non-compete clause. Back then my employer was a franchise of a larger national corporation. The title of the document is ''Corp. X Franchisee Employment Agreement'' and my employer is defined as ''Company Y, a Franchisee of Corp X.'' This year, my employer decided to separate from the corporation to run its own operations. Since it is no longer a franchise, and the agreement specifically defines them as a franchise of that corporation, and based on the title, the agreement itself is a document belonging to the corporation, is my agreement, and more specifically my non-compete, still valid and enforceable by my employer?

Re: Is my non-compete valid?

It would depend on the specific wording of the document, but it is probably still valid.

Would need to see the terms of the non-compete agreement.
